Our plan is to join Youth With A Mission in South Africa starting next June, 2014.
Youth With A Mission is an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. The purpose of YWAM is simply to know God and to make Him known. This is done through training, evangelism and mercy ministries.
We will spend our first year immersed in YWAM Bible classes. During that first year of study, we will also visit various YWAM ministries in order to get a better sense of what God is calling us to do. We are passionate about the following YWAM ministries: working with broken families, special needs children, vulnerable children and teenagers, the sick and dying, and the hungry. We also have friends involved in prison ministry through the Andrew Murray Centre.
There is no lack of opportunity in a country with high unemployment, AIDS, and extreme racial inequality. In such dire situations, it is easy to feel like God does not care. But He does, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is actively transforming lives spiritually and physically. Ordinary people like you are me have the privilege of being a part of what He is doing among the nations.
